About Fun First Jobs

Fun First Jobs is a job board and resource center for people looking for a first job, a summer or seasonal job, or another role where experience isn’t expected yet, and for the employers who hire them.

A first job is more than a paycheck

A first job is often where people learn to manage a schedule, work on a team, help customers and take direction from a supervisor. It can lead to a reference, new skills and a clearer idea of what kind of work they enjoy. We built Fun First Jobs around that idea: finding a first job should be straightforward, and the jobs you find should be real.

Who it’s for

  • People getting started. Anyone looking for a first job, a summer job or an entry-level role, whether you’re in high school or college, finishing a training program or starting over in a new field.
  • Employers who hire them. Camps, pools, parks and recreation departments, churches, nonprofits, public agencies, schools and local businesses with roles that welcome first-time and early-career workers.

How it works

  • You can search jobs and read every listing without creating an account. You apply the way each listing explains: right here with Apply on Fun First Jobs (a free job-seeker account is needed) or on the employer’s own application page.
  • Job postings are free for employers. Fun First Jobs currently accepts U.S.-based jobs only.
  • Employers and jobs must pass Fun First Jobs’ verification and safety checks before appearing on the site. Some submissions require additional review.
  • Listings come down automatically when they expire, and right away when the employer marks the job filled.
  • Anyone can report a listing, and our team reviews reports.

What we focus on

We focus on legitimate jobs that welcome people who are new to work. We ask employers to describe the duties, schedule and pay clearly, to say when training is provided, and to list only requirements the job really needs. We don’t allow listings that charge applicants fees or ask for sensitive information like bank details as part of applying. Our Job Posting Policy has the details.

Our Guides & Resources section brings together practical First Job Guides on finding a first job, resumes, interviews, workplace skills and job safety, guidance for employers, and links to official state and federal resources.

How we create our Guides

Fun First Jobs creates First Job Guides to help people find and start a first job, make the most of early work experience and, for employers, hire people who are new to work.

We use research and AI-assisted tools to help organize information and develop drafts. Every Guide is reviewed and edited before it’s published. Facts about employment law, pay, taxes, safety and similar topics are checked against government agencies and other primary sources, and each Guide lists the main sources it relies on.

Guides on time-sensitive topics are reviewed on a schedule, and we update them when important information changes.

Our Guides give general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. Rules can differ from state to state, so check the official sources where you live. State Job Resources is a good place to start.

What we’re not

  • We’re not the employer. Each employer is responsible for its job, its hiring decisions and its workplace.
  • We can’t guarantee a job, an interview or a reply to an application.
  • “Verified employer” isn’t an endorsement or a background check. Here’s what it does mean.
  • We don’t charge job seekers anything.
